Inew V3 review. Unboxing, design, startup, software, screen, sound, camera, battery, gaming, benchmark and conclusion

Video Review

 Introduction

Whenever you are using an iphone, a blackberry or an android smartphone, you simply can’t close your eyes away from the Chinese smartphones. A quick look on the internet promises great value for money. Big specs, big screens at a bargain.

I was curious too, and I wanted to try one out. But then the search begins…

A lot of brands, a lot of models, a lot of camera’s and most of all … a lot of different prices.

Finally, as my first Chinese smartphone, I went for the Inew V3.

I ordered him at coolicool (http://www.coolicool.com/-presell-time-april-4th-inew-v3-mtk6582-13ghz-quad-core-50-inch-hd-screen-android422-3g-smartp-g-33210)

I payed around 180€ instead of 130€, but the free gifts and the customs/waiting time avoided, it was a good compromise.

And indeed, ordered it on Tuesday, received it on Friday.

Couldn’t wait to open it …

Unboxing

First impressions are good, the package is well protected by a foam and held firmly by an elastic.

Removing this, reveils the Inew V3 box.

At a first glance, the box is a bit bigger of what we are used to for our European models. At least, for myself, with my Galaxy Nexus.

It is special too, it looks and opens like a Jewelry box. A design I didn’t came across till now.
When you open the jewelry box, the first thing you see is the Inew V3, surrounded by a small protective bag. He is lying between 2 foam rectangles which hold it firmly into place.

Under the Inew bed, you will find everything you need: battery, earphones, English manual, charger, and even 2 handy gadgets.

A leather cover with a window at the top of it (to see the Android clock) and a screen protector.

Untill now, everything looks very good. The Chinese phone box and packaging doesn’t have to undertake from other manufacturers in terms of packaging.

The only thing left to do is putting the battery in the phone, and let it charge.

First look at the design

Size 142.5*70.8*6.5mm

Weight 128g

The Inew V3 is slightly bigger than my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, 0.3” bigger to be precise.

But it feels really good in the hand.

In the pictures it looks a bit rectangular, with its not-rounded corners, but in real life, it’s ok.

The phone is ordered in white , so let’s make a 3D tour of the complete phone starting at the back.

The back is complete white, with the removable plastic to give access to the battery, SD Card and Dual Sim cards. At the top the 13Mp camera and a flashlight.

At the left side we have the power button, the finishing touch of the left and right side is aluminium. At the right side we have the Vol+ and -.

At the top we have the audio connection and micro USB (charger, NFC, …). Note the small gap to remove the top plastic.

VLUU L210 / Samsung L210

The bottom of the phone is as the top, a bit rounded, plain white. No connections here, but 2 small speakers. Nicely covered with a king of grill.

Last but not least, the front. Overwhelmed by the screen, and a small plastic surrounding. We can notice the front 5MP camera and sensors.

Startup

Well, the time we were all waiting for, let’s fire it up.

Ultra-thin smartphone (Android 4.2.2 system)

Now let’s start up that thing !

The power button and volume buttons already feels firm and well manufactured.

It doesn’t take long for our little Inew to start.

And right away from the first seconds, you know what you are dealing with:a great intro which gives you a brief example of the screen quality and the bright audio.

What you will notice too, is the specific iNew design of the bottom buttons and its notification light.

Software

Once the phone is started up, it’s all Android magic there.

VLUU L210 / Samsung L210

Running on 4.2.2, the phone looks familiar to any other European/American market smartphone running Android.

Except some icons here and there, the rest seems unchanged and looks pretty sweet.

VLUU L210 / Samsung L210

The Quad core is doing his job, moving and scrolling from one menu to another or from one application to another is instant. I will cover some more processor intensive applications later on.

Screen and Sound

Display5.0 FHD screen HD Screen

The main screen resolution1280*720 Pixel

In the settings, you can still push the screen brightness to a maximum. I saw some movies in the phone already so let’s see what the Inew is capable of.

Indeed … just as we expected, the screen quality is immense. Just take a look at the edges in the video. The speakers are very loud and clear. Something that can be handy for the alarm clock ;-)

Battery

Putting a great effort on the quality is one thing, but the question everybody will ask themselves is, what about the battery?

Well, I worked hard for this review, and the phone is on for a while now. I did some intensive testing, gaming, … and the battery is at 27%. What Inew announce on their website seems to be correct.

Battery parameters1830mAh High capacity

Phone talk time120-150 (unit:Minute)

Standby time120-180 (unit:Hour)

The battery is replaceable and you can afford one easily on ebay without breaking your wallet.

Camera

The camera is almost a piece of art on this smartphone. It may be my own perspective, but it shoots really great and there are a lot of options in order to get the best picture that suits your needs.

Technically we have a 13MP rear camera and a 5Mp front one.

These are some of the Camera options:

Pretty impressive uh?

These are some pictures to show you what to expect. Even after a zoom, or in bad light conditions, the iNew gets his way through to provide you the best picture quality.

Gaming

I am not a big “phone” gamer myself, but I like to play some funny games to spend some time.

So I couldn’t make this review ignoring those funny games that makes our day.

I will start with “The Minions” and end with “Asfalt”, which is a more graphic intensive game.

VLUU L210 / Samsung L210

The conclusion was predictable for both games, except a small lag in the intro, the rest of both games played flawlessly. Very enjoyable screen quality, colors are great, perfect resolution without seeing the pixels with the eye.

The screenshots and video speaks for itself, so I am going to let you enjoy it.

Benchmark

And just to give us a global idea of the phone’s performance, I ran an Antutu benchmark which gave us a total score of 17184. This is just under a Galaxy S3, which is priced at 250€ in Belgium. This phone costs nearly half.

Conclusion

First of all, the iNew V3 is very well designed. iNew looked out for every detail. The rounded corners, the bezel for the battery, the grills on the speaker, the big screen on the front, …

With this design, we have a very powerfull phone with a 5” screen.

For gaming purposes there is really nothing to complaint, it is not a top of the art phone, but you get the best bang for money.

After all, the camera also performs very well and the battery stays very long.

The removable battery is also a plus point because this is getting hard to find in Europe as many other brands don’t allow you to change the battery anymore.

So in conclusion, for the price, it is one of the best phones out there.
